HARRISBURG – Senator Scott Martin (R-13) was sworn into office today to begin serving his first term representing southern Lancaster County residents in the state Senate.
“Representing the interests of local communities is one of the greatest honors of my life, and I deeply appreciate the faith that the residents of the 13th senatorial district have placed in me,” Martin said. “I look forward to continuing the fight for more efficient and effective government in Harrisburg, eliminating wasteful spending and creating an environment conducive for economic growth and opportunity for Lancaster County families.”
Prior to his election to the state Senate, Martin served as a Lancaster County Commissioner, where he worked to downsize government by cutting duplicative agencies and departments, reduced debt by $40 million, and reduced costs for taxpayers through privatization and public employee benefit reform.
Before entering public service, Martin was successful in the private sector as a licensed Realtor and local landlord, as well as a former Director of the Lancaster County Youth Intervention Center. He also has contributed countless volunteer hours to local community organizations, including the United Way of Lancaster County and the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention & Visitors Bureau.
The 13th District includes the City of Lancaster; the townships of Bart, Colerain, Conestoga, Drumore, East Drumore, East Lampeter, Eden, Fulton, Lancaster, Leacock, Little Britain, Manheim, Manor, Martic, Paradise, Pequea, Providence, Sadsbury, Salisbury, Strasburg, Upper Leacock and West Lampeter; and the boroughs of Christiana, Millersville, Quarryville and Strasburg.
