Lancaster, PA – February 19, 2025 – Residents of Lancaster and surrounding areas are invited to participate in a free educational event, “$cam Jam,” aimed at empowering individuals, especially seniors, to recognize and prevent various forms of fraud. This will be presented in both English and Spanish.

  • Date: Wednesday, March 19, 2025
  • Time: 12:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m.
  • Location: Tec Centro SW, 57 Laurel St, Lancaster, PA 17602

Hosted jointly by Senator Scott Martin and SACA (Spanish American Civic Association), $cam Jam is a collaborative initiative designed to provide attendees with the knowledge and tools necessary to protect themselves from prevalent scams, including identity theft, cybercrime, mail fraud, and financial exploitation. The event will feature presentations from experts representing:

  • The Office of Senator Scott Martin
  • The Pennsylvania Department of Banking and Securities
  • The Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General
  • Local law enforcement agencies
  • AARP Pennsylvania

“Scammers are becoming more sophisticated and aggressive in trying to separate people from their hard-earned money, so it is critical to ensure community residents know all the methods thieves might use to access an individual’s personal and financial information,” Martin said. “I am grateful to SACA and all our participating agencies for helping to pull together this informational event to help members of our community protect themselves from fraud.”

Attendees will also engage in interactive activities such as “Fraud BINGO,” making the learning experience both informative and enjoyable. Free giveaways will be available to all participants, while supplies last.

While the event is free to the public, space is limited. Interested individuals are encouraged to register by February 17, 2025, by visiting https://senatorscottmartinpa.com/scam-jam-reg/ or calling Senator Martin’s office at 717-397-1309. Complimentary refreshments will be provided courtesy of Tec Centro Lancaster’s Culinary Arts program.

“At SACA, we are committed to empowering our community with resources and education that promote safety and well-being. Scam Jam is a vital initiative that helps protect individuals, particularly our seniors, from becoming victims of fraud and exploitation,” says Jose R. Lopez, CEO of SACA.

This non-commercial event is dedicated to safeguarding our community by equipping residents with the knowledge to identify and avoid scams. Don’t miss this opportunity to enhance your financial security and protect yourself and your loved ones from fraud.
