Senator Martin Will Host Senior Expo on August 27 in Lancaster

Senior citizens gather information from exhibitors at Senator Martin’s senior expo.

LANCASTER – More than 50 exhibitors will be available to offer information on programs and services for older community residents at Senator Scott Martin’s (R-Lancaster) Senior Expo August 27 in Lancaster.

This free public event will be held from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Farm and Home Center, located at 1383 Arcadia Road in Lancaster.

State, county and local agencies will be on hand to provide information on a wide variety of benefits for older Pennsylvanians, including health and wellness, assistive technologies, consumer protection, income tax assistance, veteran benefits, traffic safety, utility assistance, and much more. Free health screenings, door prizes and light refreshments will also be available for visitors.

The theme of this year’s Senior Expo is “America the Beautiful” in recognition of the nation’s 250th anniversary celebration. Weather permitting, a flag-raising ceremony will kick off the expo, and America250PA will be available to hand out free merchandise at the event.

The Lancaster District Attorney’s Office will be on-site to help citizens properly dispose of unused prescription medications. Constituents can bring old, unused, or unneeded medication to the event and place them in the secure take back box at the Lancaster County Drug Task Force table staffed by a Lancaster County Detective. The initiative is being offered to slow the abuse of prescription medications.

As a new feature at this year’s expo, Tech Buddies – a non-profit organization that encourages teenage volunteers to help older Pennsylvanians with cell phones and other devices – will be available to provide technology tutoring to seniors.

Older community residents can RSVP to attend the expo here. RSVPs are not required but are appreciated.
