HARRISBURG – The Pennsylvania Senate today paid tribute to the life and career of former State Representative Katie True, who passed away on October 7, 2025.
Senator Scott Martin (R-Lancaster) introduced a special condolence resolution honoring True’s career as an eight-term member of the House of Representatives, her service under the Corbett Administration, and her many legislative achievements.
“Katie once said, ‘you get passionate about something, and you jump in.’ Her work and passion were encompassed in this phrase with her many legislative accomplishments,” Martin said.
True served eight years representing the 37th District of the House of Representatives from 1992-2000. After leading the PA Commission for Women for two years, she returned to the House of Representatives in the newly created 41st District from 2002-2010.
She served as Commissioner of the Bureau of Professional and Occupational Affairs in the Corbett Administration and later served as the Governor’s Secretary of Legislative Affairs prior to her retirement.
During her time in the General Assembly, True authored laws to improve independent living for seniors, combat human trafficking, increase penalties for domestic abuse, and better investigate suspected cases of child abuse.
She also founded Kids Saving Kids, a drug education program for elementary students that earned national recognition.
“We remember Katie True as an experienced and effective advocate, a consensus builder and a compassionate and responsible leader among peers,” Martin said. “She leaves behind a legacy as a pioneer for women in state government.”
