HARRISBURG – Senator Scott Martin (R-13) was appointed today to serve on six Senate committees that reflect a number of the needs of Lancaster County communities.
Martin was appointed to serve as Vice Chair of the Senate Local Government Committee, which is responsible for reviewing legislation that will affect municipal governments. The committee is expected to review issues including municipal pension reform and state mandates in the upcoming two-year session.
In addition, Martin was selected to serve as a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee, which reviews every piece of legislation that is expected to have a financial impact to the state. The Appropriations Committee also plays a key role in crafting the state budget each year.
He was also appointed to serve on the Senate Aging and Youth Committee; Communications and Technology Committee; Environmental Resources and Energy Committee; and Health and Human Services Committee.
“These committees cover a wide range of subject matter that affect our region, from the creation of a responsible state budget to protecting taxpayers and delivering the most effective and efficient services to some of our most vulnerable citizens,” Martin said. “I look forward to getting to work with my colleagues on these committees to improve the quality of life in Lancaster County communities.”
