REAL ID Seminar Scheduled for February 12

In conjunction with my colleague Senator Ryan Aument, I look forward to hosting a special seminar on February 12 in Lititz to help community residents learn more about REAL ID. This new option will allow state-issued driver’s licenses and ID cards to continue to be used as a valid form of identification for boarding commercial flights and entering federal buildings after October 1, 2020, when new federal identification standards go into effect.

REAL ID carries an additional cost, but it is optional for Pennsylvanians. The seminar will explain both options and help individuals who wish to purchase a REAL ID to gather the proper documentation. IDs will not be distributed during the seminar; it is for informational purposes only.

You can register to attend the seminar here.

In addition, local officials will be available at the seminar to offer assistance with marriage certificates and birth certificates. The Lancaster County Register of Wills/Clerk of the Orphans’ Court will be available to print duplicate marriage certificates for those who originally applied in Lancaster County. The cost to have a marriage certificate printed on site is $10 cash, check or money order. For more information about marriage licenses, please visit https://co.lancaster.pa.us/278/Marriage-Licenses.

In addition, staff will be on-site to help community residents who need a duplicate birth certificate to complete the application process. To apply for a birth certificate the day of the event, you must bring along a copy of your valid driver’s license or other government-issued ID that includes your mailing address. The cost to apply for a birth certificate is $20 check or money order made payable to “VITAL RECORDS”.   Note that duplicate birth certificates cannot be provided on site. For more information about birth certificates, please visit www.health.pa.gov/MyRecords/Certificates.
